The Young People we support
Future Youth Inspired supports young people who specifically experience challenges with their social, emotional and mental health (SEMH), which include but are not limited to ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) and conditions manifesting as a result of historic trauma.
When onboarding young people, we generally see that they display low levels of self-esteem and confidence; typically with a lack of trust in mainstream education having had negative experiences, alternatively they find classroom environments with other students overwhelming or triggering.
We adopt a unique one-to-one relationship-based approach to understand each young persons’ needs to create a bespoke timetable which engages them socially and academically, promotes positive experiences and regains their trust in education.
Closely working with local authorities and parents / guardians, we build a personalised package that considers:
The Future Youth Inspired Experience
Passions
Our first step is to understand what the young person is interested in. We then create a tailored timetable that reflects their perspectives, showing that we are committed to supporting them in pursuing their passions.
People
Mentors and tutors who are experienced in engaging with those with SEN are carefully chosen based on each young person’s requirements. All mentors and tutors have enhanced DBS certification and have completed safe-guarding training.
Throughout their time with Future Youth Inspired, our specialists focus on getting to understand and know the young person, their families and continually adapt their approach to ensure they feel seen, heard and respected.
Mentors routinely liaise with parents / guardians to keep updated on what is going on socially and emotionally for the young person.
Places
The locations we select to deliver individual education sessions and activities help our young people feel safe.
Tuition is delivered in small, inviting spaces with outdoor areas if breaks away from the desk are needed. Tutors and mentors will flex the environment, where possible to maintain engagement and make them feel comfortable
The Onward Journey
As our young people engage in their personal timetables, with the support of their mentor / tutor team and by building relationships with them, they begin to recognise the positive steps they are making socially, emotionally and academically.
Academically
Our young people are proud when they get answers correct during tuition, and they feel safe asking questions.
Socially
We see young people engage confidently in turn-taking conversations. They take ownership for ordering their own food when in the company of their mentors and use manners. They handle taking on constructive feedback and their parents notice positive changes in behaviour at home.
Emotionally
Young people who engage with their timetable at Future Youth Inspired display a sense of belonging and are better able to regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour, putting them in a good place to step into life Year 11 (Post-16).
Personal development and independence
Students are able to cook basic meals and help with housekeeping tasks at home. We see young people are able to meet with SEND professionals to actively discuss their Post 16 options. Future Youth Inspired work closely with the young person’s professional, to help with a successful transition to education, training or employment.
